It's the late 1970's. We're in a suburb of Glasgow where a young boy named Joseph struggles to deal with his stepfather's physical abuse towards his mother and the steady diet of indifference he receives from both of them. His only companion through this is a small Star Wars action figure (stormtrooper) that never leaves his side. On a trip to the cinema Joseph sees his mother with another swollen eye and his heart breaks again. The sunglasses she wears do nothing to hide it. As he leaves the cinema and daylight hits him, he realises this reality isn't good enough, so he decides to create a new one for himself.

On Joseph's emotional journey we'll witness an X-Wing Fighter flying through Renfield Street, and a stormtrooper hanging out washing as he leads Joseph into stealing next door neighbours denims.

The stormtrooper becomes his guide and is there when Joseph really needs him in the climactic showdown with his stepfather.

'The End Of Silence' is a funny, violent and often moving portrayal about the resilience of childhood in the 70's and how the cinema can ultimately save young peoples lives.
